To teach students successfully at St Ivo teachers must:

• Be fair
• Be consistent and
• Be committed to teaching them.

We must:

• Arrive punctually to our lessons
• Meet and greet to set the tone of the lesson.
• Establish clear routines (e.g. Coats off and bags on the floor)
• Take charge of our learning space by devising an appropriate seating plan to maximise the learning opportunities. This must be recorded online so it can be used by cover staff. Research evidence shows the importance of strategic seating plans.
• Avoid confrontation at the start (e.g. tactically ignoring poor behaviour and praising nearby students who are behaving correctly) (Page 10 and 11 Classroom management Unit 20 National Strategy)
