Welcome to St Ivo Resource Centre (RC), a purpose built space to cater for the diverse needs of Years 7 to 13. The flexible space allows students to make full use of the 18 thousand resources, 160 study spaces with help to hand from the professionally trained RC staff. Independent learning is promoted through Study Skills Sessions to all year groups, complimented by visiting classes utilising the books and PCs for research.
Students can make use of the facilities in their leisure time for homework and research. Study Support runs after school Monday to Thursday to give individual help with homework. In addition to supportive texts from reading lists, which brings the curriculum to life, the RC houses an extensive collection of Text Books and Revision Guides to help the students gain the marks they deserve in tests and exams. The RC proves a popular place to revise, individually and in groups, all year round.
The Sixth Form are fortunate to have exclusive access to The Study; an area designed for quiet independent work. Dedicated Text Books, Revision Guides and Journals can be found here to enhance research alongside notice boards giving timely study hints.
A life-long love of reading is promoted through our extensive young adult titles in a range of genres from classics to the latest releases. Students are welcome to recommend titles and there is something for every taste! Our collection is enhanced by DVDs and magazines, targeting students’ studies and hobbies, making for a busy learning and reading environment. The year is full of competitions and events to promote the joy of reading, books and research. The highlight of the year is the annual Literary Festival. The week is buzzing with visiting authors and workshops promoting reading and the associated worlds it can open up. All in all the Resource Centre is a vital part of the St Ivo experience!

Borrowing items and overdues
Policy: with so many individual reading experiences, the RC aims to put as few barriers in the way to enjoying reading as possible. With that in mind, the age restrictions on our fiction titles are:
14+: Year 7 onwards (unless advised by a teacher). Students are asked to confirm that they and their parents/carers will be happy with the older teenage content of these titles.
16+: Year 9 onwards (unless advised by a teacher). Students are asked to confirm that they and their parents/carers will be happy with the adult content of these titles.
DVDs are governed legally so we are unable to lend items if the student is not the advised age.
Borrowing limits
DVDs can be borrowed for 2 nights
Year 7 and 8: 4 items for 3 weeks
Year 9 to 11: 6 items for 4 weeks
Year 12 and 13: 8 items for 6 weeks
Items can be renewed for a further period if they are not reserved by another student.
Overdues
Emails are produced weekly advising parents of any items not returned. After 4 weeks a printed invoice will be sent home, asking for either a good quality replacement or payment so that the item can be replaced. Until the matter is resolved, students will not be able to further borrow and reminders will continue to be emailed weekly. Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the RC to discuss the matter.
