Text Box: The Proshare Student Investor 2004 Portfolio Challenge is designed to increase young peoples understanding of investment, business and the stock market. The competition allows schools to run portfolios and have some hands-on experience of what it is like to invest in equities, investment trusts and international shares.
The competition has been designed to be as realistic a simulation of actual investment as possible, but the process has been simplified so that teams can focus on the important issues of research, decision-making and teamwork. The competition is fully supported on-line with a website developed in conjunction with the Department of Trade and Industry, offering on-line entry, daily share price data and tracking facilities, plus school, regional and national league tables for participating teams.
Mr Tilley organised the event and St Ivo School entered fifteen teams from sixth form and GCSE Business Studies into the National League which consisted of four thousand, three hundred and twenty-nine teams. One team made the quarter finals - El Drage (David, Steven, Bodrul and Craig) from Mrs Johnsons GCSE Business Studies class. All of the teams researched and produced interesting portfolios.

Twenty-five Year 12 students attended a revision conference at the Friends Meeting House, Euston Road, London. They were addressed by academics and examiners to help prepare them for the forthcoming A/S level exams.

Good luck to all our students in the forthcoming exams - especially those leaving us in the summer to enter the world of work or higher education. Our current Year 13 have made a most positive impact upon the school and the community - we wish them all well.

Congratulations to Andrew (13 Ck) who has won a scholarship from Bristol University to finance him through his engineering design course. This scholarship was a very competitive award and Andrew showed a lot of flair and ability to achieve it.

Year 13 students heard an assembly given by a representative from the Anthony Nolan Trust for bone marrow donors. We will start a register for students who are willing to become donors.Well done to the many students who gave blood at a local blood donation session earlier this month.
