The
Science department took over two hundred Year 7 pupils to study marine
ecosystems on three day trips during May.
The first port of call was Morston where we took a boat trip around
Blakeney Point. This area is only
accessible by boat at high tide as the sea goes out a very long way. There is a colony of over five hundred grey
and common seals here and we saw many basking in the sun on Blakeney Point
and swimming in the sea - some even swimming out towards the boat! After
this we visited the Sea Life Sanctuary at Hunstanton, where pupils were free
to look around in their own time. This
is a fascinating place with seals, penguins, otters, seahorses, sharks and
turtles, plus a large tank of fish which seem to perform for visitors. One of the centre staff gave a talk about
sharks - dispelling many myths. Pupils
completed some research about what they found out and saw, and are completing
a project about the day. There will be
prizes for the best. Mr B Carter |
